Welcome to Washington Elementary! We have an awesome staff at Washington. Our new staff this year will be Shelby Meinert (K), Chelsie Bonham (3rd), Laura Gonzalez (Teacher's Aide), Abigail Taylor (Teacher's Aide), Brianna Barbour (SPED aide), Miyagi Atsuhiro (custodian), Cyndee LeFay (PE), Jana Russell (cook). We are ready for a super school year! The following are just a few things to remember throughout the school year. Our school doors open at 7:30 and students will go to the P.E. room until 7:40. Starting at 7:40, students will go to their classrooms for Breakfast in the Classroom! Students will be counted tardy after 7:50. Class begins at 7:50 and ends at 3:05. If your child is late for school, please bring them into the office and sign them in on the brown sheet. After school pick-up will be on the North side of the building and flows to the East. Students will wait with their teacher on the sidewalk until parents pull through the line to pick them up. For the safety of our children, please wait in line and do not go around other vehicles. Morning drop off will be along the sidewalk in front of the building and will flow to the North. Please have students ready to exit the vehicle so the line runs smoothly. If you need to come into the the building, please park around the next block. Buses will drop off students on the East side of the building. Please call the office before 2:30 if you need to change your child’s normal after school transportation. Students will follow their normal transportation routine unless we are contacted by a parent or guardian. If your child will not be in school, please let the office know as early as possible. If your child has an appointment, please bring in a note so the absence can be excused. Please make sure you keep your phone number, email, and address current so that you may receive important messages from Washington Elementary and the district. You will need to go to the district website and opt in to receive messages. The district website is miami.k12.ok.us. Classroom placements have been made with regard to the best interest of all students and staff. Students are not placed in classrooms with regard to friends, etc. Student placement is final and students will not be moved to another classroom. I am very excited about the upcoming year and I can’t wait to meet all of you! Please feel free to stop by the office and visit or discuss any concerns you may have throughout the year. You are always welcome and encouraged to be actively involved in your child’s education! Thank you for sending your children to us every day! We are dedicated to providing the very best education possible for each of our students! Educationally, Melissa Turner Washington Elementary Principal
